Covid-19 Update

We cannot guarantee delivery times and we share your frustration over this. 

As we enter the third month of lockdown, there are many reasons your order may be delayed, all of which are beyond our control. For example:

  • Shipping delays are holding up an item from your order
  • Shipping delays are also holding up the similar item we were planning on using as a substitution for completing your order
  • Shipping delays are holding up an ingredient, kitchen supply, packaging supply, or shipping supply that is crucial to completing your order
  • A hot weather advisory is forcing us to freeze your order overnight or hold it until the following week

Because we are working alone to maintain physical distance, each person is juggling multiple projects at once.  We may not get a chance to contact you about the status of your order until several days have passed.

If there is a crucial deadline that you are trying to hit, please write in the order notes:

 PLEASE CANCEL IF UNABLE TO SHIP BY XX/XX/2020 (insert date)

Working safely in a pandemic takes endurance, patience, and accepting slowness as the new normal.

We hope you can understand and be pleasantly surprised if your order gets out the door fast. Trust that we are working on it as hard as we can.

As you have probably heard, supply chains are crumbling.  We are not immune. Keeping hundreds of SKUs in stock has become trickier than usual. Ingredient shortages, shipping delays, and hot weather advisories are affecting all of our trade partners.  In the interest of avoiding prolonged delays with your order, we will substitute items that are out of stock with similar items of equal or greater value.  Don't worry, we only carry delicious, high quality chocolates and our recommendations are aimed to please.  If you would rather be credited, you can write in the Order Notes at checkout - "PLEASE NO SUBSTITUTIONS."

The New Normal

It has taken Olympic-level mental gymnastics to reconfigure our operations for covid safety. Your support has made it worthwhile. Thanks to you, our employees are mostly employed and our Easter bunnies found good homes. We are truly grateful to be able to continue our creative work.

If you've been hanging on Gavin Newsom's words like we have, you know that the timeline for reopening is much longer than originally anticipated. So this is the new normal. 
We continue to prioritize safety by limiting ourselves to window service and e-commerce. We have reworked our floor plan to allow more social distance for workers, and we are dedicating most of our retail floor space to web order fulfillment. Our tasting events and off-site appearances are cancelled for the foreseeable future.

 

Chocolate is an expression of love.
Who doesn't need a love letter right now?  

Please continue shopping here at xocobar.com if you are able to -- we offer free shipping over $49. I can't think of a better gift for brightening the spirits of someone sheltering in place, or for thanking someone who works on the front line. If you're local you can pick up for free from 12-5pm Tuesday through Sunday. Come early to get yummy Brazilian Breads next door, or come late to pick up scrumptious Vietnamese-French dinner from Vanessa's.

As you well know, chocolate soothes the soul and makes sheltering in place a whole lot more enjoyable. As essential workers (food producers & purveyors), we are adjusting course day by day to make sure we are keeping ourselves and our customers safe. To that end, we will be reducing our hours for in-person service to 12-5pm Tues-Sun (normal hours were 10-6). We strongly encourage you to continue shopping online at www.xocobar.com. E-commerce is the safest and most streamlined way for us to continue operating. Thank you so much for your support during these uncertain times.
