About Us

Malena Lopez-Maggi and Clive Brown are artists-turned-chocolatiers. Malena briefly studied professional chocolate-making under master chocolatiers Terry Richardson and Thalia Hoenthal.
Fueled by a passion for food, art, and experimentation, both Malena and Clive are primarily self-taught. As avant-garde chocolatiers, they develop unique and often daring recipes.
The duo launched The Xocolate Bar in 2006. At the 2007 San Francisco International Chocolate Salon, they took home 5 awards including Best in Show.
The Xocolate Bar currently has a shop and kitchen in Berkeley, CA.
