About Us

Clive Brown and Malena Lopez-Maggi are artists-turned-chocolatiers. Malena briefly studied professional chocolate-making under master chocolatiers Terry Richardson and Thalia Hoenthal.
Fueled by a passion for food, art, and experimentation, both Clive and Malena are primarily self-taught. As avant-garde chocolatiers, they have developed unique and often daring recipes.
The company was launched in 2006. At the 2007 San Francisco International Chocolate Salon, The Xocolate Bar took home 5 awards including Best in Show.
The Xocolate Bar currently has a shop and test kitchen in Berkeley, CA.
